Living Proof (or How I Haven't Killed The garden - yet)

I started an album on Facebook to keep DaBatt comfortable that her garden is in safe(ish) hands while she is back in New Zealand. Unfortunately, that wonderful institution has seen fit to take the instruction "display in date order" as "stick them in any old order, it doesn't matter that the captions no longer make any sense" In an effort to introduce some coherence, and perhaps a little more lasting record, below are the relevant pix, and their witty, effervescent captions :)
The Triffid does what it does best...

... considering it was at the bottom of the small heart the night before.

and then next day.

and yes that IS a water lilly

and, it appears, another triffid on the grow

The side garden has had a light prune  (the rest has since been "trimmed" too)

Someone suggested that the asparagus plants could be removed from this area

Oh, and Friday night was nice and warm (no bedclothes required)

Saturday saw the triffid heading for the sky

and guided round the post for support.

The lawn was trimmed ,

and the clippings joined the side garden's offcuts

Sunday morning saw a visitor

and what a handsome visitor it was

The largest of the brugs is hanging in there,

as are the smaller ones

The Tamarillo seems to be happy in its new home

and the random green stuff greens on..

with the promise of something pretty to come.

The first of the new extensions is a bustle with life

This one seems to like the arrangement,

and I haven't wilted this one again since the move

and this is just bloomin on... again

The second extension is also busy with new life

while over to the left, flowers...

more flowers (note the blue one peeping through the fence)

and closer to the house, is it a butterfly?

or a butterfly plant?

More promise from a brave plant

ravaged by the depredation of a falling tree (well, falling branch)

The "dry garden" is blooming...

Although perhaps not quite as much as the front garden.

And now, as I type this on Sunday night, the gentle rain continues... there was 3 mm in the gauge when I got home, so there should be some happy plants in days to come

A Sunset

Just a hint of colour in the sky... and yes it is windy the next day

All about Alpacas

So... DaBratt wants alpacas - not one but TWO (its all laid out in technicolour detail here)

There are a couple of points I'd like to make:

1) There is NO point including a link to "Why buy Alpacas" when I took on board the WHOLE page when it was read out to me... it might have looked like I was playing the 'nod and smile' card, but I was still taking it in. (Its a case of having to, you never know when there is going to be a pop quiz later)

2) The landlord is not stupid - as soon as the neighbour complains about us keeping camels (SHE wont know the difference) the LL will get suspicious, actually come to see for herself and start waffling about space

3) I know what will happen when the novelty wears off - the same as the bird and the cats. The blimmin animals will think I am their friend and provider and hassle me from the minute I walk in the door "where's my food", "I want hugs", "sit down so I can sit on your lap" "Scratch under my chin.. NOW" ... oh wait... that's not just the animals is it.

4) In response to Ange's comment about fertilizing lawnmowers, one thing DaBratt doesn't mention is that they are "toilet trained" and go in one particular area. I wonder who would have to collect this potential fertilizer, process it so that is acceptable to the woolly beasts and then spread it.

I'm afraid the answer to Alpacas is NO!!

Well until we have a place with enough space for them anyway

:o)
